It’s hard to imagine that Jerry Sandusky’s reputation could fall any further than it already has given his role in this year’s Penn State University child sex scandal …
Yet, arguably one of the most loathed men in contemporary American society has now been connected to an alleged pedophile ring run tied to Poly Prep Academy in Brooklyn, New York during the late-1970s.
Accusations emerged Thursday that Sandusky, former Poly Prep football coach Phil Foglietta, now-deceased Philadelphia businessman Ed Savitz and former Wharton School of Business professor Lawrence Scott Ward – already serving time for trafficking in child porn and smuggling photos of himself having sex with a teenage Brazilian boy – were serviced by Greg Bucceroni, an admitted “child prostitute,” after the then-teen was introduced to Foglietta at a Second Mile fun-raiser near State College, Pa in 1979.
In an email to Kevin Mulhearn, an Orangeburg, N.Y. attorney representing 12 individuals currently suing Poly Prep for covering up the fact that Fogliettta was a sexual predator in order to protect the elite institution’s name and corresponding fund-raising efforts, Bucceroni claims the following, as provided by the New York Daily News:
(Between) 1977-1980 I was a child prostitute associated with a tri-state (NYC-NJ-PA) pedophile ring. (During the) summer of 1979 I was brought to the State College area by Ed Savitz for the purpose of child prostitution with Jerry Sandusky at a Second Mile fundraiser. Due to time constraints, Sandusky became unavailable and I was introduced to Phil Foglietta by Ed Savitz and Jerry Sandusky. Foglietta was introduced to us as Coach Phil who coached youth football in NYC. Foglietta agreed to pay $200.00 for child sex and followed us back to a Philadelphia hotel, myself [and] another child prostitute engaged Coach Phil in child sex.
Lynne Abraham, former Philadelphia district attorney who prosecuted Savitz – a man Bucceroni alleged to have been molested by over several years in the 1970s and was eventually charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse in 1992 (he died of AIDS before ever going to trial) – said she was previously unaware of any connection existing between Savitz, Sandusky and Ward.
“I know nothing about this,” Abraham told the Daily News.
Bucceroni, meanwhile, told the newspaper he was contacted by authorities on Wednesday of this week to discuss Foglietta, and would continue to cooperate with the FBI and U.S. Postal Inspectors currently investigating the purported pedophile ring.
The now 48 year-old’s allegations emerge at an interesting point in time, this as the U.S. District Court Judge assigned to the Poly Prep case mentioned above, Frederic Block, has encouraged all parties involved to come to a settlement in the immediate future.
The New York Daily News notes that the case, first brought to the light of day in 2009, is seeking $20 million in remunerations for each of its 12 plaintiffs.
ABC News also this week announced it would be interviewing Victim #1 from Sandusky’s recent criminal trial involving transgressions taking place on the campus of Penn State.
